How to Make Your Mobility Device Your Own

Now that you have an electric scooter, wheelchair or other mobility device, it’s time to make it your own! Whether you’re looking for design customizations to stand out or want additions to make it more efficient and user-friendly, we have ideas for both. Keep reading to learn how you can customize your new ride!

Pick from a Variety of Color Options

Many of our wheelchairs and scooters, such as the Catalyst 4, are customizable by color and offer a variety of options to choose from. If you’re looking for something different but still neutral, you could go with something grey or off black like the Breezy Wheelchair. On the other hand, there are more noticeable color options like red, blue or orange, like the Quickie QM700, if you’re hoping to stand out.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • There may be color restrictions depending on the funding agency (for example, AADL will only supply blue or black wheelchairs)
  • It’s difficult to keep all colors stocked so we often stick with the most common ones

Add a Safety Flag

Safety flags are a great addition to any wheelchair or scooter so vehicles can see you when you’re out and about. They’re also easy to install and can fold down below your head when not in use. If you want to take the flag off altogether for transfer purposes, it’s easy to remove and put back on.

Try Out Some LED Lights

One way to stand out for good is to deck your scooter or chair out in LED lights. This could be as simple as adding lights for visual assistance in darker areas or as complex as adding lights all around for style purposes.

Purchase Wheelchair Spoke Covers

Something lots of kids enjoy is adding wheelchair spoke covers to their wheels. These are readily available to be purchased online through various suppliers such as Amazon or Ebay. Not only are they great for adding extra pizazz to your wheelchair’s style, but they also make it less painful if you get your fingers tangled in the wire spokes of your chair.

Add Extra Accessories

The accessory options for your mobility devices are endless! These accessories are great for making your device more convenient for daily use. Some examples include:

  • Phone holder
  • On-board charging USB adaptor for your phone or tablet
  • Wheelchair tray
  • Clip-on mirror
  • Cup holder for your beverage
  • Under-seat bag
  • Wheelchair umbrella
  • Extra padding for the seat, arm rests, neck, etc.

Now’s the perfect time to make your device more efficient and stylish at the same time. We carry the wheelchairs, scooters and other mobility devices you can rely on, so feel free contact us if you need assistance finding yours. We’re happy to help!
